Understanding Intervention
An intervention is a highly structured meeting between an addict (or any person experiencing problems) and their loved ones or co-workers. One, sometimes two, of our trained professionals facilitates this meeting. There are several goals to intervention and here are the most important.
- Let the addict know how much they mean to others and that they are worth saving.
- Motivate the addict to enter treatment.
- Educate the family about the diseases of addiction/mental illness and the recovery process.
- Encourage the family to participate in their own recoveries as well as supporting the addict in their recovery.
- Help the addict transition back into the family and work environments.
Chances are, if you are visiting this site, its time for action. Families often report feeling afraid of what will happen if they seek help. Before you decide please take a moment and visit our "Why Intervention" page. It is a strong testament as to why addiction intervention, alcohol intervention, and drug intervention are so important.

Intervention 180 Mental Health Intervention
When dealing with mental health issues of any sort, it is vital to understand how the existing mental health diagnosis interact with the addictive disorders. Intervention 180 is one of the few intervention providers capable of performing interventions for those with a primary mental health condition, severe co-occurring disorders, dual diagnosis and even Axis-II mental health diagnosis. Our interventionists are trained and specialize in reaching those with a multitude of co-morbid disorders. It is not uncommon for families to feel their loved one is somehow "more severe" or "unreachable". We take great pride in helping the "unreachable" start on this journey of recovery. It is not necessary for your loved one to have a history of drug or alcohol use to perform an intervention. Intervention 180 Mental Health Intervention Services Include:
Bipolar Intervention, Depression Intervention, Schizophrenia Intervention, Borderline Personality Disorder Intervention, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder Intervention and Co-Occurring Disorder Intervention. In addition, Intervention 180 works closely with some of the nation's leading dual diagnosis and mental health providers. Often times conventional treatment providers are not equipped to treat those with severe psychiatric conditions. Please feel free to contact our National Toll Free Helpline at 888-435-7960 for mental health treatment referrals.
What Makes Intervention 180 Different?
Intervention 180 does not subscribe to the "one size fits all" intervention model. We strive to fit our services to our clients, not our clients to the services. Due to the wide array of interventions including mental health intervention, addiction intervention, alcohol intervention, behavior intervention and drug intervention that we provide, we combine key elements from the most effective methods of intervention and addiction counseling. We have created a fresh, respectful, evidence based, non-confrontational, method of intervention. There are several styles of intervention, which have evolved since its creation in the 1960's, by Rev. Vernon Johnson. It is important to note, not all addicts are appropriate for the same style of intervention. One Model Does Not Fit All. Our interventionists utilize an eclectic approach and use the most appropriate in models to ensure a tailored intervention for each specific client and family. This is done to avoid trauma, volatile responses and ensure a positive outcome.
